If you're planning a sailing holiday in 2025, you're in for a treat. Whether you're dreaming of island hopping, quiet anchorages, or vibrant coastal towns, there are plenty of destinations around the world to consider for your next yacht charter. Here, we break down some of the most popular and highly recommended places to set sail this year — complete with seasonal advice, highlights, and tips to help you get the most from your time on the water.

1. Greece – The Cyclades and Ionian Islands
Greece continues to be a top charter destination, and for good reason. The Cyclades, including Mykonos, Paros, and Santorini, offer iconic views, traditional villages, and reliable summer winds. For a slightly more relaxed sailing experience, the Ionian Islands — including Corfu, Kefalonia, and Lefkada — feature gentle breezes and lush, green coastlines. Sailing in Greece is flexible: you can opt for shorter hops between islands or longer passages if you're looking for open water experience.

2. Croatia – The Dalmatian Coast
With more than 1,000 islands to explore, Croatia's Adriatic coastline is one of the most accessible and scenic places to charter. Towns like Split, Dubrovnik, and Hvar offer a blend of medieval charm and modern marina facilities. The sailing season here runs from May through October, with the high season peaking in July and August. If you want warm water without the crowds, aim for late May or early September.

3. Italy – Amalfi Coast and Sicily
Italy’s western coast offers dramatic cliffside villages, vibrant culture, and exceptional food. The Amalfi Coast, including Capri and Positano, is best enjoyed at a slower pace, giving you time to take in the scenery. Sicily, and the Aeolian Islands in particular, offer volcanic landscapes and quiet anchorages, especially appealing to experienced sailors seeking something more remote.

4. The Caribbean – British Virgin Islands & Grenadines
For winter sun, the Caribbean remains unmatched. The British Virgin Islands are a favourite for first-time charter guests thanks to short sailing distances and sheltered waters. More adventurous sailors might enjoy the Grenadines, where you can visit less-developed islands like Bequia or Union Island. The high season here runs from December through April, coinciding with the dry season.

5. Turkey – The Turquoise Coast
Turkey’s coastline from Bodrum to Fethiye is steeped in history and full of secluded bays, ancient ruins, and traditional gulets available for charter. Unlike some Med destinations, Turkey allows for a truly relaxing charter experience with fewer crowds and more opportunities to anchor off the beaten path. Late spring and early autumn are ideal times to visit.

Choosing the Right Destination
Your perfect destination will depend on a few factors: your sailing experience, preferred travel season, budget, and whether you’d like a bareboat or crewed experience. Each location listed here offers something unique — from cultural excursions and world-class cuisine to peaceful anchorages and water sports.

Looking Ahead
Booking early for the 2025 season will give you the best choice of boats and travel dates. Demand remains high for popular months, especially in the Mediterranean, so securing your yacht ahead of time ensures you won't miss out.
