Charting the Course Behind the Scenes
Last week, the High Tide Yacht Charters team had the pleasure of attending the EMMYS Yacht Show, and what a fantastic few days it was!
Held in the picturesque setting of Poros, this year’s show featured an impressive 106+ crewed yachts, each offering a unique glimpse into the ever-evolving world of luxury chartering in Greece. From sleek new catamarans to reimagined classics, there was no shortage of inspiration on display — and plenty of new additions to the Greece Crewed Charter Market to explore and get excited about.
Getting there was a bit of an adventure in itself! With ferries cancelled due to stormy weather, we found ourselves hopping into a taxi for a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Galatas, followed by a quick car ferry over to the island of Poros — just in time to dive into the action. The journey set the tone for a show filled with passion, perseverance, and just the right amount of spontaneity.
One of the standout aspects of the event was the incredible hospitality and culinary talent on board. We were treated to phenomenal lunches crafted by the chefs on ABOVE & BEYOND, STEPHANIE, OPERA, VALIUM 55, and ATLANTIS (which included a guitar performance from the Captain!) — each one a testament to the onboard excellence our clients can expect. Evenings brought their own delights, with memorable dinners ashore at Dimitris Taverna, Gia Mas, Oasis, Caravella Taverna, and Poseidon — the island’s charm and warm welcome truly shone through.
And of course, no visit to Poros would be complete without a few indulgent stops at Grand Gelato Gelateria and Gelato di Poros for the best scoops in town. We rounded off each morning with breakfast at Sugar Café, where the Greek yoghurt and French toast were just too good to pass up (even after the fourth day in a row!).
Beyond the yachts themselves (which, let’s be honest, were the undeniable stars of the show), the event was a brilliant opportunity to connect with fellow brokers, central agents, and key industry partners. Conversations ranged from charter trends and guest expectations to broader industry challenges — a valuable reminder of how collaborative and forward-thinking our community truly is.

For us at High Tide, attending shows like EMMYS isn’t just about keeping up with what's new — it’s about ensuring we're ready to deliver exceptional experiences for our clients, backed by up-to-date insights and strong relationships with the crews who make it all happen.
To round off the trip, the team indulged in a bit of culture and history by staying in Athens for an extra day before flying back to Manchester. Naturally, we couldn’t miss the chance to visit the iconic Acropolis of Athens — the ancient citadel towering over the city, home to landmarks like the Parthenon, Erechtheion, and Temple of Athena Nike. At €30 for non-EU citizens (which, unfortunately, we no longer get to avoid), it was absolutely worth every cent. We also made the scenic hike up to the Filopappou Viewing Podium, soaking in spectacular panoramic views of Athens and the Acropolis proudly perched above it all. We ended our stroll through the charming streets of Plaka, exploring local shops and soaking in the lively Athenian atmosphere — the perfect cultural send-off after a week immersed in the world of yachting.
